A secluded beach Junput- offers beautiful sea-view and lines of casuarina and eucalyptus trees is a seaside village in the state of West Bengal, India.The beach is untouched and pure.  Sunrise in Junput is a treat to the eyes of the visitors.

Things to do in Junput

Leisurely walks on the beach and picnic in the fir tree plantations. anything you wish.The best place you have ever seen. Sea here is calm and ideal for swimming. Sunrise and sunset are breath taking and indeed a sight to behold . One can relax in the cool breeze of the casuarinas plantations which dots the beach front at Junput.

Other Attractions

Locally famous Dariapur light house is very close to the beaches of Junput. The light house is 75 meters high and attracts lot of tourists who all visit Junput.

The famous Kapal Kundala Kali Temple is one kilometer away from Junput. While Bankim Ch. Chatterjee was Deputy Magistrate of Contai, he wrote his famous novel Kapalkundala in the background of this temple. The temple now partly in ruins, is well known for its historic relevance. The forests abounding the temple is a nice place to move around for its scenic beauty. But always remain cautious of snakes during the summer months.

The Marine biology Museum in Junput is controlled by the Fishery Department of West Bengal. Rare species of fish, snakes and various other wild lives are found in this region. One can also visit this place if one is interested

Where to Stay

Junput Resort , this is the only accommodation available there, 1 km from Junput Bazar. There is no spot booking facility so it is better to book a room before reaching there.

How To Reach

By Air
Nearest airport near Junput is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at Kolkata,  Distance between Junput and Kolkata is approximately 78 miles. One can hire a car  from Kolkata to Junput from Airport.

By Rail
Contai is the nearest rail station. One can avail Digha bound trains from Howrah or Shalimar station near Kolkata and arrive at Contai, from where buses and other local conveyances are available for Junput.

By Road
If you want to travel by road one can drive down to this sea beach through the Contai highway. Buses are also available from Esplanade Bus Terminus in Kolkata which take only a couple of hours to reach Junput.

Best time to visit 

The best time to reach Jumtput is from the month of October to May, when the temperature is
mild.
